‘Love This’ Scrapbook Layout

My ‘Love This’ scrapbook layout came together to celebrate my daughter’s love of splashing in puddles; it goes real well with her love of rain boots.

I’ve been hoarding holding onto the umbrella embellishments for some time now. I’ve used them on a layout here and there but was really nervous about using them without them overtaking the stage. So I decided to use them in a layout where they played a starring role but also balanced with the rest of the layout.

To add some interest to the top of the layout I die cut a bunch of stars to mimic rain drops. I sewed down the middle of each row so the top star could be puffed up a little for some texture and dimension. This was the most time-consuming part of the layout, especially since I jammed up my sewing machine. But it’s better now, thank goodness!

I showcased my photo at the bottom with some layered patterned paper to add some color that either contrasted or complimented the umbrellas. This way it helped anchor the photo and make the layout look more cohesive, plus I was able to use up scraps I had, so win-win-win.

Do you have some embellishments you’ve held onto because you don’t know how to use them? What about making them the focus? Let me know if you try it, I’d love to see.
